Phenethylamine (PEA) is a naturally occurring trace amine and central nervous system stimulant. Sold as an oral dietary supplement for mood and energy, it is rapidly broken down by enzymes in the gut, meaning high doses are required to reach the brain, which can raise heart rate and blood pressure. However, some of Phenethylamine's comppounds can be turned into psychedelics & empathogens such as Mescaline, MDMA (ecstasy), and the 2C-B family. The "2C" family refers to a group of synthetic psychedelic and stimulant designer drugs based on the phenethylamine chemical structure.
